1. Luggage Rack 'clip' of extremely limited usefulness. It may be possible to put on a rear rack under the frame but if you're looking to put panniers on it the front wheel looks more promising. 2. While the motor's mounting position on the chain ring makes it easy to change the rear tire compared to how much grief reviewers claim is involved with the Currie system, as a result the bike only has seven gears so you can't ride up a VERY steep hill if you're over 200lbs. A much lower load would go a hill like a mountain bike though I suspect.
3. Range for 250lbs of weight and one steep hill is only about 12 miles on a full charge. 250lbs was total weight with rider and cargo, and the hill was very RELATIVELY steep and the bike pulled it with modest pedaling.
4. Chain protector on front is cheap and breaks easily, basically worthless, though this isn't a big issue.
5. Twist shifter and throttle make riding uncomfortable on the wrists. I'm solving the problem by raising the handlebars, adding ergo grips ($50 total), and of course gel gloves.
Pluses:
1. Dual disc brakes. This is a big plus, though I think one comparably priced Currie lithium system has them(?).
2. Lithium battery.
3. Rear suspension, though I have a (something-something) "Thudbuster" seat post with gel saddle from another bike that's awesome for bumps.
4. Some reviewers of the Currie system said their throttle was dangerous to engage (as in it would throw you off the bike if you're not careful). Not the case here. Adequate but not overpowering.
5. Easy to switch on the left side between no pedal assist, 50%, and 100%, a switch with three settings. I think it saves battery life to use the throttle to get moving, and either ride with 50% or 0% assist most of the time, using the most power on hills.
