Go-Ped Gas Powered Full Suspension 4-Wheeled Trail Ripper Quad Review

Go-Ped Gas Powered Full Suspension 4-Wheeled Trail Ripper QuadAbsolutely great! Kids loved it and worked out what to do in about 10 minutes. Easy to build and seems pretty strong. Only problem we've had is the inlet manifold (plastic I think) cracked making it unuseable, probably just a fult in the plastic. Waiting for Go-Ped customer support to reply though.

Go-Ped ESR750 Electric Powered City Scooter (Multiple Colors) Review

Go-Ped ESR750 Electric Powered City ScooterThe ESR750 is the best electric scooter on the market.
I have purchased electric scooters before and by far, this scooter beats anything I have ever seen or tried.

It is extremely powerful (the motor is over 1000 watts)and has excellent torque which allows it to climb very steep hills. It's got two modes you can use to ride: either in economy mode with which I get more range but a little less speed, which works great when I commute in the city, or I can use it in turbo mode, which is a lot of fun: I get slightly over 20mph.The look is very nice and stylish. It looks like high quality work, a nice stylish piece of machine. It's still light for an electric scooter (most tend to be extremely heavy).
If you are thinking of getting an electric scooter, you will not be dissapointed with this one by Go-Ped®. It's obvious that it is made in the America. The quality is unsurpassed.
Very good value for money. I'll never trade mine for anything else.

Go-Ped GTR46R Trail Ripper Gas Powered Full Suspension Off-Road Scooter (Sinister Black) Review

Go-Ped GTR46R Trail Ripper Gas Powered Full Suspension Off-Road ScooterI purchased the Trail Ripper about 3 months ago and the name of this product describes it perfectly; although, not in the manner Goped intended.I say this due to the fact that anytime you ride this product on any kind of trail, even a paved one with virtually no hills or hazards, the trail itself will simply rip up this Goped.Over the last few months I have had one problem after another with this device. In fact, I've spent more time repairing it than I have riding it.And unfortunately, I've only ridden it for a total of approximately 8 hours during this 3 month period. And yet, I've had one problem after another with it.

First of all, everything is exposed, wires, cords, tubing which means that you have to be careful when riding the Trail Ripper anywhere other than a paved or dirt surface with no debris (running over twigs can and will cause problems especially if one gets snagged on the throttle cable). For one, the throttle cable, in particular, the wire inside of the cable gets pulled in from time to time which ultimately opens the throttle plate inside the carburetor, which in turn causes the engine to rev up in the same manner as engaging the throttle completely. In order to fix this the wire inside the throttle cable must be pulled out as much as possible in order create as much slack as possible.Performing this task will take at least an hour each time it happens and it does happen frequently. This will also cause the engine to flood and gum up the sparkplug to the point of it needing to be either cleaned or replaced. The chain will also come loose from time to time, even if there isn't very much slack at all. This problem is due to the fact that the wheel sprocket is uneven which will cause more slack in the chain when the wheel is rotated at some points more than others. This can be dangerous because the chain will get caught on the braking system and all of a sudden the Goped will come to very rapid stop which may cause you to fall, or if really unlucky, fly off.

My Goped is currently out of commission yet again, awaiting further repairs. This time I believe it is the slip clutch. While I was riding it yesterday I hit a very small pothole in the road, and all of a sudden the engine dies and the rear tire locks up.I managed to start up my Trail Ripper after several attempts and it made a very loud metal on metal scraping sound.I believe it's a problem with the slip clutch, and I, no doubt, will have to spend a few hours working on it in order to fix it.The slip clutch is not easy to get to; if it were I would probably be able to fix it in less than an hour, but I will probably have to dismantle most of the Goped in order to get to it.Please keep in mind I do not ride my Goped in an aggressive manner, nor do I ride it on rough terrain, and I do keep it well maintained.Again, I have only had my Trail Ripper for a little over 3 months (warranty is only 3 months with good reason) and have barely driven it at all.I have spent considerably more time repairing it than I have riding it and it has got to be one of the worst purchases I have ever made in my life.I can honestly say that I will never buy another product from GoPed.

Go-Ped GSR Sport Gas Powered City Scooter (Gloss Black) Review

Go-Ped GSR Sport Gas Powered City ScooterWithin 5 days of using this Go-Ped the pull start failed. The failure of the pull start caused an internal problem with the "kill switch" which made the problem worse. Patmont motors sent me to a local shop to get it repaired. All of this took about a week to get resolved. I recommend buying something like this from your local shop even if you have to pay a few dollars more. It is very time consuming to deal with Amazon and the manufacturer over the phone. You have to explain a lot and answer questions and wait for parts to be mailed, etc. It's much easier to take it into the store you bought from to resolve any warranty issues. Additionally, it wasn't until I actually paid for it and received a confirmation that the true return policy was clearly spelled out which is "not returnable". To Amazon's credit, they did give me a discount for all the trouble.

The Go-Ped Story
Beginning in 1985, Steve Patmont, his wife Hannelore, and two sons Gabe and Tim launched Patmont Motor Werks, creators of the Go-Ped Brand of original folding motorized scooters. They began by building Go-Peds in their Pleasanton California garage for friends and family that just had to have one and it blossomed from there. Knowing the market opportunities were endless for their fun and safe, carefree design, the Patmont family secured a patent and began shopping their invention around to purveyors of yachts and personal aircraft as a light and portable alternative transportation device to extend transportation choices for various commuting and recreation uses.
The Patmont family introduced the patented Cantilevered Independent Dynamic Linkless Indispension (C.I.D.L.I.) in 2005. This revolutionary yet simple and extremely effective suspension system redefined the portable transportation market once again. Off-road enthusiasts and those simply wishing for a more comfortable ride can also experience the amazing benefits of these practical and portable Gopeds.
Today Patmont Motor Werks is the world leader in personal transportation and proudly produces the world's finest portable transportation devices out of it's "enlarged garage," a 70,000 square foot state-of-the-art production facility in Minden, Nevada. The Patmont family has kept PMW strong by constantly innovating new and improved products. In addition to an excellent selection of scooters and carts, the introduction of the ESR750 pure electric GoPed scooter line in 2003 offers a zero emission, environmentally-friendly transportation device for those wishing to reduce climate change, their carbon footprint, beat the rising prices of fossil fuel, and foreign oil dependence.

Go-Ped Know-Ped Push Scooter Review

Go-Ped Know-Ped Push ScooterVery well built, tough, great ride.Easy to ride even for someone who's never ridden one as a kid.Got this to give my dog a better workout during afternoon walks, and now we both get a great workout.

I'm 45, 6'5" tall. After shopping for various electric and gas scooters, decided to get this because I read that for 1-2 mile distances, this was all you needed. It is!Half the weight of any gas or electric scooter.

I've had the KnowPed for about a year, and also got a Xootr Mg last month, after reading that the Xootr "goes 3-4 times as far on a flat surface, with the same number of kicks".That may be, but as I discovered, most people don't ride on a perfectly smooth, flat surface, but on streets and sidewalks, and there, the Xootr's better glide makes little difference. The Xootr's lower deck helps kicking a little, but over a 1-2 mile loop, the overall effort is the same. Except for sections where a lot of braking is needed, and there, the KnowPed is less effort thanks to its better brakes. If you're going to be riding 5+ miles over smooth sidewalk, the Xootr will save you some effort.

The Xootr deck flexes side-to-side when you change feet, but this is more a matter of hinge design, than of build quality. The flex doesn't really affect ride quality, it just takes a little getting used to. Xootr is also noisier, and has a slightly harsher ride, but neither is worth worrying about. The Xootr may technically be lighter, but the KnowPed is more rigid and feels lighter. The Xootr's T bar extends higher above the deck than the KnowPed's, however this isn't necessary, even for very tall people (I'm 6'5"), unless they're going to be riding 5+ miles. The ability to set a lower hieght is an advantage to anyone less than 5' tall.Xootr claims their backwards oriented front wheel fork is more stable than competing design, which is true, but their narrow wheel is more likely to jam in a crack, so its a wash. Both scooters require you keep two hands on the T bar at all times, so make sure you have a backpack to carry supplies. I clip my dog's leash to my belt when taking him for a trot.(Jan 2009 update: Safety is excellent in my opinion: The Xootr can spill when the wheel jams in a sidewalk crack. The KnowPed can spill if you take one hand off the T bar.Total spills in 3 years: 2 for Xootr, 2 for KnowPed. Embarrassing, but kind of exhilarating, too, for the few moments of weightlessness.Don't worry, have fun!)

Two Xootr's attractions are its sophisticated looks, and narrower deck.If I were wearing a suit, I'd rather be riding the Xootr. The Xootr's shorter adjusting T bar is also good for use by children.(A GrowPed also serves here). The KnowPed's deck is a little too wide for my taste, but not enough for me to do anything about it.If that really bothers someone with carpentry skills, they could take a router to the wooden deck.

Both are fine scooters, but overall I like the KnowPed better than the Xootr, even if it were the same price as the Xootr, and not half the cost.Simpler, to use, quicker to fold, and super reliable.Fantastic brakes compared to the Xootr, and easier to control. The rear brake is much more effective and easier to use than the Xootr's, because its easier to step on.The KnowPed is quieter, and looks great. Unless you like the Xootr's appearance and styling better, I'd recommend the KnowPed to anyone looking for a kick scooter.

UPDATE: April 2008. Re: Xootr noise- there is a simple way to quiet the fender rattle: piece of sponge between the brake and fender. Also I am really getting used to the much taller T bar on the Xootr. It lets me stand completely upright. Have to recommend the Xootr for riders over, say, 6'1" who are going on 5+ mile rides. Also, the KnowPed is no longer that much cheaper than the Xootr. Still, the KnowPed is an excellent scooter: simple, tough and reliable.

UPDATE: Jan 2009.Folding: both scooters fold, but the Xootr is more compact when folded and has a great shoulder strap available.Pop it on your shoulder and both hands are free.My favorite rides are anywhere along Manhattan's riverside Greenways, anywhere that's super crowded like China Town. Scooters are a great way to see a crowded flat city like NYC.Even checked mine in on the airplane so I could scoot around Austin during a business trip.
